Points & Suspension:
Clients are always asking me to explain why they need to hire me to fight their tickets. “So what?” they say about points on their license. I thought this would be a good place to explain it.
If you just pay your ticket and receive points, instead of hiring a traffic ticket lawyer, your insurance premiums will increase. Sometimes as much as 50% for just one moving violation. If you receive 12 points within 12 months, your driver license will be suspended for 30 days. If you receive 18 points within an 18 month period, your driver license will be suspended for 3 months. If you receive 24 points in a 36 month period, your license will be suspended for an entire year.
It may seem that only a crazy driver could get 12 points in 12 months, but that is not so. For example, “Steven” hired us recently for a DWLS (driving on a suspended license. He got the DWLS because his license was suspended for 12 points in less than 12 months. The following is his recent driving record: January 2012, Speeding – 56 mph in a 40 mph (4 points); April, 2012, Passing a School Bus (4 points); and November 2012, hit a small tree in Boca Raton and left thinking nobody saw him (leaving the scene of an accident – 6 points).
So you see, not only the crazy drivers have to worry about points. It is a problem everyone should be aware of. If you have been given a citation for this or any offense, you should contact our office as soon as possible.
You may be charged with a criminal violation if you ignore your citation and continue to drive. Please call us at (954) 967-9888 or email us at [email protected], www.TrafficTicketTeam.com
